Development of new products and services

From the outset we have been aiming to develop new quality precision farming products, adapted to changing market requirements. This is achieved through collaborative agreements with national or multi-national suppliers of fertilisers, agrochemicals etc or independently.

Sky-farm was formed in November 1998. The founders always felt that there would be a role for specialist services sitting between the international companies (machinery, fertiliser, agchem / seed, electronic equipment and satellite owners) and the agronomists (independent and dealer / co-ops) who advise farmers.   The experience of the market place and the efforts of the Sky-farm team has confirmed the need for both on-farm services and project support for agribusinesses.  As of 2011 these two activities are operating as separate entities.

Imagery

Our initial expertise was the procurement and processing of airborne and satellite imagery.  Compared with other measurements (yield and soil) imagery has the advantage of enabling adjustments according to seasonal progress of the crop.

Expanding product range

Whilst imagery has been the point of differentiation from other suppliers and the start point of our offering, we continue to explore and develop our products and services to include other components of precision farming service support as appropriate.
